Happy Thanksgiving from WVCALA
On behalf of West Virginia Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse, I’m writing to wish you Happy Thanksgiving and share a few things we all can appreciate as supporters of legal reform.
1) First, thank you for your support of WVCALA. Our grassroots organization depends on members like you to champion legal reforms by calling policymakers, writing letters to the editor, or attending events to express your support reforms.
2) We’re thankful for bold legislative leaders like Senate President Bill Cole and House Speaker Tim Armstead who made long-overdue legal reforms a priority for the 2015 and 2016 legislative sessions.
3) Thanks to Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s leadership, his office has saved our state millions by providing transparency and a competitive bidding process for outside counsel work provided to the State of West Virginia. The days of backroom, self-serving deals to help people get rich by filing questionable lawsuits on behalf of the state are now behind us.
4) Finally, we are thankful for our legal system and those who have answered the call and served on juries, which is the bedrock of our American system of justice. Thank you to the thousands of citizens of West Virginia and the United States for helping to make our country a symbol of justice through jury service.
It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without talking about turkeys. The millionaire personal injury lawyers continue to run afoul and gobble about much-needed lawsuit reforms. We hope they will take a few moments and be thankful for their lawsuit riches.
On Thanksgiving, as we gather with family and friends around our tables to reflect on and give thanks for our many blessings, I'll be thankful for not only family and friends but also for having an opportunity to work with WVCALA and so many strong supporters of the organization such as you.
We appreciate your commitment to supporting lawsuit reforms, and, most importantly, may you and your family have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving.
